Beliefs and history
The Armenian Church traces its apostolic foundation to Sts. Thaddeus and Bartholomew. It confesses Jesus Christ as the head of the Church and preserves the Orthodox faith handed down through Holy Scripture, apostolic tradition, the ecumenical councils it receives, and the teaching of the holy fathers.
Armenia embraced Christianity as a nation in A.D. 301 through the ministry of St. Gregory the Illuminator and King Tiridates III. The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin is the spiritual and administrative center of the worldwide Armenian Church and the residence of the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians.

The Divine Liturgy is the principal worship service of the Armenian Church. In it, Christ comes to his people in the proclamation of the Gospel and in Holy Communion—his Body and Blood. Scripture, chant, incense, prayer, and the participation of clergy and people form one sacred offering.
